1552 v.2 blog #2: MK4 Jetta R32 Coupe

April 19, 2007

The R32 parts are here (well, most of them). This will likely be the last update before we begin the official project series on www.VWvortex.com.

We have our host Jetta finally - a 1.8T automatic - but it's up in New Hampshire. As soon as we can take the time to fly up there and drive it back, Jetta R32 Coupe sparks will begin to fly. Anyone want to drive our host Jetta down to FL for us?

We got a great deal on this engine due to the fact it's down on compression in one cylinder. We won't know till we take off the head, but we're hoping it's just a head gasket issue. If not, does anyone out there know the max bore size for the 3.2 block?

Yes, we know we'll be needing some pullies...

Here are a few pics to whet your appetites. As you can see, most of the conversion parts are here and ready to go - we're just waiting on the host vehicle to arrive and then the fun will really begin.

April 9 2007

This should be fun.

Shortly, we'll be undertaking what stands to be our major project for the year. We at bpd are pretty partial to Jetta coupes - especially the kind VW never bothered to build. We also think the 2004 Mk4 R32 is a pretty special car, as far as VWs are concerned. So it stands to reason the a Mk4 Jetta R32 Coupe would be especially cool, and that's what you'll be seeing unfold within this project blog within the next couple weeks.

Stay tuned!
